Jasmine, Filli and Kree

Finally! My first ever proper deviation. And here it is, my week-long labour of love. I'm not sure it was completely worth it, and I really hope someone other than me likes it.

The trees in the background are possible the best trees I've ever drawn. That counts for the leaf-litter too. I had so much fun drawing that forest there.

I also love Kree's fluffiness, particularly his hackles, and that I chose to give Filli some whiskers. I think it added a touch of realism to him, not to mention it made him more adorable.

Jasmine's hair alone took an entire day. I need to experiment to find a good way to texture hair realistically (and easier!). I hope I got the shading right so it looks like she has shiny black hair, not hair with grey through it. I don't like where her hair lies across her arm, it stands out too much. I think I should've added some individual hairs over her skin to blend it in more. Oh well...

In my original drawing I had her lying on a bed or something but when I got around to colouring it I realised I wanted her out in the forest somewhere. Which meant I needed to find a replacement for the blanket and that didn't go well at all. So please forgive the horrible grassy-mossy thing she's leaning on. In retrospect, I probably could've gotten away with putting Lief's cloak there instead... Anyway, lesson learnt. Next time I'll make sure I'll figure out what background I'd like before I draw my figure.

Since this took so long I'm wondering whether or not I want to colour Lief and Barda or Doom and Dain this way. I'll probably do some minor sketches and drawings first, mainly to give my hand a break, so don't expect them to be finished anytime soon.

Also, if anyone can think of a better title for this picture, please let me know. I'm hopeless at naming things and I was hoping for something a little more original than their names. Thanks.
